DOCUMENT CHECKLIST

Organise the evidence you need

There is no single document list for every European university or student visa. Build your checklist from the exact course admission notice, scholarship call and responsible immigration authority. Keep these three processes separate so that a university document deadline is not confused with a visa appointment.

Guidance for your next step

Academic application folder

  • Identity document requested by the institution.
  • School or university qualifications and complete transcripts for your entry route.
  • Required translations, certification or recognition documents.
  • Accepted language evidence, where requested.
  • Course-specific statement, references, CV, portfolio, test or research proposal.

A bachelor’s applicant should not be asked to produce a previous bachelor’s degree by default. Use the level and qualification rules in the actual call. Check whether documents must be uploaded by application, by a later deadline or after an offer.

Funding and scholarship folder

Record the required award form, financial evidence, family-income or asset documentation and any translation/legalisation rules. Keep the scholarship decision separate from an expected award. The authority or award body decides which evidence is acceptable.

Visa and arrival folder

After checking your nationality and route, obtain the current official list for admission evidence, funds, accommodation, insurance, application forms and identity documents. Additional checks may apply. Do not treat this preparation guide as an embassy-approved checklist.

Keep records you can use

Name files clearly, record submission receipts and keep original documents secure. Check name spelling and dates across your records. Share sensitive documents only through a verified channel with a clear purpose. Use our interactive preparation checklist to organise tasks, then confirm the result against the official list.

Official starting points

For Italy, read Universitaly’s current international-student procedure. For Germany, read the federal study-visa guidance. Other destinations require their own university and immigration sources. Checked 27 October 2026.
